i saw these posted on inspire inspire this morning and was so pleased to see how eco-friendly these are. based in the UK, rose hip strives to use environmentally friendly products wherever possible, either paper which is 100% recycled or from well managed sources. i just love their kitchy colors and designs. pictured here is a small sampling of their A5 notebooks, see more here.

After a whirl wind of a weekend filled with bruised and burned hands. the work on our house has begun and i'm already feeling the physical pain. I was happy to come home last night to have recieved some lovely valentine based emails that i'd love to share.

I just adore these uniquely letterpressed cards from bread and butter. my favorite part is the back of the cards where the lace cuts off. clever little detail.

I always loved jane's way of creating something so simple and unique, these are perfect for children and adults alike! I think i'll be grabbing some for my nieces and nephew! these are by foxy and winston.

shop update

The second half of the winter collection is finally in the fb shop. Back by popular demand are the matchbook jotters, adorning a new felt-like color and some of my original illustrations. I wanted to change it up a bit for the winter with a nice subdued style...nice and cozy. There are two different prints of birds in flight, inspired by my cats bird watching habits! They're here! I've been very busy this past week with the ornament swap, house hunting and these beauties, new Modular Paperbacks.
the story behind these has to do with puppy-kitty. Every morning puppy kitty has her breakfast and cleans herself from her overnight romp and then runs up to the kitchen table to wait for the birds to come play at the window feeders. She'll wait anxiously until they fly up to the feeder and then she lets out this petite "bark" before lunging at the window to get them. It actually gets the birds excited to play. I've spent some time watching the way they fly around each other and tease the puppy kitty. it's quite amusing to watch. So this collection is "for the birds"! lol I hope you enjoy them, they are up in my etsy shop. and more photos on my flickr page

winter paper picks

2008 calendars are out in full force and I'm having so much trouble deciding on which to adorn my office and home, especially when they look as good as this one by SusyJack*. I think I'm becoming obsessed with her pattern work. The calendar is not quite available yet, but you can read all about Susy's progress with it on her blog.

Another way to go is more of a desk calendar like this great hand printed one by Paper Blue Bird. Her illustrations are very lovely. To view the rest of the months check out her etsy site.

winter paper

Hi i'm back with regular posting goodness. i almost went stur-crazy last week, i almost posted twice but held off for the swappers.
so aside from getting my next line of books out before december holiday shopping hits (ahhh!), I've been obsessing over all the great holiday papergoods...i get a bit paper crazy during this time of the year! so in honour of this crazyness, i'll be doing more posts on great holiday papergoods for the season...and what great way to start it off with our friends at egg press.

not only do they have some fantastic retro style cards this year, but they also launched a line of "sew-it-yourself" stitch kits, they are just too terribly cute!...i think my favorite is "clauss" the raccoon.

Nantaka Joy

Joy Deangdeelert Cho, also known as Oh Joy! has launched her site for her stationary line called Nantaka Joy which translates "Happy Lady Joy". Congrats Joy, everything is so lovely infact it's making it hard for me to choose a favorite but these Thank You cards are close to it!

2008 collaboration

Two of my upstate NY gal pals, Tara Hogan of Ink & Wit and Rachael Hetzel of Pistachio Press have collaborated on a fantastically designed, letterpress 2008 calendar. (whats with me and calendars lately?)
Anywho, there will only 200 of them made and you can find them to purchase at either of their shops: here or here come mid November. Excellent work girls! here is a digital peek....

when you mix a background including architecture, furniture design, graphic design and throw in a bit of knitting, typography, and book design you get debi van zyl. I came across her shop one day on etsy and then linked to her blog where she began posting a bout her process of creating a very unique 2008 calendar so i emailed her to make sure she would let me know when it was done...and guess what..it's done and it's very cool!


This calendar handmade and in limited edition. You can count down the year with concentric circles, each month getting smaller and smaller as the months go by. It's also cleverly bound with wood strips and each month is perforated and can be easily torn off. measures 4 x 5.5 inches (10cm x 14cm). so if your looking for your 2008 calendar and you want a unique one, head on over to debi's shop.
