I normally don't take inspiration from other blogs but i just couldn't help myself on this one. Irene over at Bloesem has been having a hard time being on her blog sabbatical and has posted a few inspirational finds. I don't blame her for not staying away, it's sooo hard to not share the goodness! one great find is wallnut, beautiful pattern designs by cristina londono...check out her eye popping designs for textiles, packaging, stationery, and even wedding decor!

Wallpaper yeahy!

creators and owners of the wonderful online shop, the curiosity shop have come out with a fantastic new book i'm sure you've already seen around the internet. Derek Fagerstrom and Laura Smith have compiled more than 50 Wallpaper projects that you can do at home. as you all know from my past book experience, wallpaper is a very versatile medium and can be used for a billion different things and the best part is that it's made to last so what ever you make from it will surely be durable and long lasting.



more awsome news from this book is that lena corwins beautiful handmade wallpaper design here (from the book) is available in an exclusive limited edition run at the curiosity shop. this would make some very lovely journals, so tempting!

patterns and pictograms

i felt like it was time for a little WIP sharing, i guess i was just in the mood for some show and tell but mainly for the opinion and comment part of it! inspired by my recent "mommy hood" experience, i've been dabbling into more kid friendly designing. it's been fun breaking down my design work into more simplified shapes and exploring more lighter and brighter color palettes. my only problem is translating a style, questioning if i have a specific one or not. my body of work has morphed it's self many times throughout it's various stages of experimentation. Each time i attempt to go back to my roots of pen and watercolor, i always get tempted to do other things, something just doesn't want me to take that step back. i guess it's not necessarily a bad thing, but a "growth thing". do i miss the pen on paper? yes. but do i also want to explore new things? yes.

It's such a joy to see indie designers experiment with different mediums, especially when it comes to pattern design...there is so much you can do with it. the very talented Danielle Smeets has done just that. her lovely patterns are now gracing these beautiful linen, cotton and hemp mixed fabrics.
