if you are in the western new york region--or want to make a trip (our leaves are great this time of year!) and are looking for some creative fun during these newly chilly months, you definitely should check out the letterpress workshops at my girl shelly's studio, FRENCH PRESS.  I know first hand that learning to letterpress is an amazing experience and shelly is the one to go to for a fun and especially informative workshop. Want to learn letterpress? Our 4th “Letterpress Basics” workshop will be Saturday, October 17 from 10-4pm and our “Holiday Letterpress Workshop” will be Saturday, November 14 from 10-4pm. These full day workshop covers a brief history of letterpress printing, demonstrations on both our Chandler & Price platen press and Vandercook proof press, mixing inks, paper selection, and designing for letterpress. Students will spend the second half of the day setting their own type, mixing inks, and printing! How cool! Cost is $75. which covers materials and instruction. No experience required.
